Introducing the Wes Hal Mindfulness Trail

Thursday 5 December 2024

A new Wes Hal Mindfulness Trail has been curated at West Stow Country Park to give visitors the opportunity to explore undiscovered areas of the Country Park while taking time out from the demands of society.

The trail is designed to offer an escape from the daily grind and give visitors the opportunity to explore their mind. Using sight, sound, touch, smell and imagination, you can engage with the natural world without the distractions of modern life.

The word ‘wes hal’ comes from the Middle English toast meaning ‘be thou hale’, which in turn means ‘be in good health’.

The inspiration for the trail’s logo comes from a Scutiform pendant found at West Stow. It’s likeness to a shield suggests it would have been used as an amulet for protection.

To enjoy the trail, download the trail map or pick one up from the visitor centre. Once you’ve finished exploring and enjoyed your mindful stroll, you can complete a short reflection questionnaire and receive a ‘Wes Hal’ pin badge.

It’s a perfect activity for all the family, and a great way to get out and take a break from the stresses of daily life.
